I’m documenting my fat-loss journey daily – with the exact food, workouts, and habits I’m doing to reach fitness goals and so you can follow along.
Everyone loves watching a BEFORE and AFTER journey, especially with getting in shape, but what about the DURING? How did they get to their AFTER? What did eat? What workouts did they do? Most fitness blogs and accounts are a great place to learn about nutrition and workouts, but I could never find one that walked me through the actual process of getting into shape.
Their advice is mostly “eat better, move more” which isn’t wrong. But that’s like telling someone “get out of debt by paying back your money” without walking them through how to budget, cut down spending, and start saving. For those fitness people, I wanted to know: what was their day to day like? What questions were they dealing with? What setbacks and challenges did they have?
Since I couldn’t find one, I decided to make it myself.
Welcome to Babootstrapped, a daily and detailed looked at a fitness journey where I’ll be posting my food and workouts daily. I’m a 25 year old in the Washington DC metro area, and I am wrapping up my quarter life crisis year that included: a parent recovering from a massive stroke, heartbreak (of course), and a few months of depression that creeped up trying to deal with both. But like any life crisis, it forces you to rethink life and focus on what actually matters. For me, that was my health.
I’d say I’m average athletic ability, I can run a mile in 10 minutes and was an active weightlifter at some point in my life. But like most people, when life hits you hard healthy habits die quick. During this year I managed to work out maybe 5 times, gained 20 pounds, and developed poor habits like sleeping at 2 AM when I have to get up for work at 6.
This site is both a dedication and accountability to get in my habits back and for the long run. BABootstrapped, is a combination of “Bad and Bougie” and the word “boostrapping” which is when entrepreneurs use their own resources and funds to build a business. I love the detailed look that business and personal finance blogs have when they document building a business or getting out of debt- why not apply it to getting healthier, too?
With BABoostrapped, I want to focus on:
· Showing the actual day to day decisions made to reach fat loss goals
· The exact things I eat and workouts I do
· Easy bodyweight workouts you can do anywhere
· How to stay motivated even when you don’t feel like working out
· Building healthy habits and routines you’ll start to do on autopilot
· Demonstrate that fat loss can be easy and fun, you just have to find a way that works for you
Everyone’s journey is different, but I hope to show you mine so you can find things that work for you and help you get healthier, too.
